How do I translate a video into another language?

Translate Video is a tool that changes the spoken language of a video, not only the text on screen. You upload a recording of yourself up to 10 minutes and choose one of 20 languages. The AI works out the original language, transcribes and translates what is said, and dubs the translation in a voice modelled on the speaker. Turn on subtitles and the new speech is also shown as captions in the translated language.

How to use AI Video Translator in 3 steps

  1. Upload the video you want to translate

Sign in and upload an MP4, MOV or WEBM up to 200 MB, or an audio file, up to 10 minutes. Use a recording of yourself or one you have permission to use.

  2. Choose the language to translate into

Pick one of 20 languages. You don't need to say what language the video is in now. Decide whether to add subtitles in the new language.

  3. Translate and download

Press Translate video. It usually takes a few minutes. The translated video is saved in My Videos.

What AI Video Translator does

The speech itself is translated

Viewers hear the new language instead of reading it. That matters for people watching on a TV across the room, listening while they cook, or anyone who finds reading subtitles tiring.

Still sounds like the speaker

The translated lines are spoken in a voice close to the person in the recording, so your French or Hindi version keeps your voice rather than a stock narrator.

Translate into English, or out of it

Any of the 20 languages can be the target: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indonesian, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Swedish or Filipino.

Subtitles in the translated language

Switch captions on and the dubbed speech is transcribed and burned in at the bottom in a word-highlight style. Viewers can listen, read, or both.

Audio files work too

Upload an MP3, WAV or M4A, like a voice note or a podcast segment, and you get a translated MP3 back. Subtitles only apply to video uploads.

Comparison

Why use AI Video Translator instead of hiring a translator and voice actor?

A dubbed version usually means a translated script, a voice actor in each language and an editor to put it back together. Here it's one upload.

What you can make with it

Translate a video to English for a wider audience

You run a channel in Portuguese and a 6-minute explainer did well. An English version can reach viewers who would never find the original.

  • Upload your own copy of the video file; links aren't accepted.
  • Choose English and leave subtitles off if you'll add YouTube's subtitle track yourself.
  • Post it as a new video with an English title and description.
  • Six minutes costs 3,060 credits.

A message for family who speak another language

You recorded a 1-minute update for relatives abroad, and your grandparents speak only Turkish.

  • Record in a quiet room, close to the phone.
  • Choose Turkish and switch subtitles on, so they can read along on a small screen.
  • Under a minute is priced as one minute: 525 credits with subtitles.
  • Send them the MP4 from My Videos.

A training video for a team in another country

A 3-minute walkthrough you recorded for new staff needs a Spanish version for the team in another office.

  • Trim long silences and the intro before uploading; every started minute is charged.
  • Choose Spanish with subtitles, so new terms are both heard and seen.
  • Text on slides stays in the original language, so keep slides short or redo them.
  • Three minutes with subtitles is 1,575 credits.

Tips for the best result

  • Only translate videos of yourself, or of people who have agreed to it. No public figures, and don't use a translation to make anyone appear to say something they didn't.
  • Only need subtitles, not a new voice? The AI Caption Generator translates captions into 13 languages for 15 credits a minute plus 5, much less than dubbing.
  • Clear speech with little music underneath gives the most accurate translation and the closest voice.
  • Translated speech can be longer than the original. Speaking at a calm pace leaves the dub room to fit.
  • Translate one short section first to check the result before you run a whole 10-minute video.

Frequently asked questions

Can I translate a video to English?

Yes. Choose English as the target language. The AI detects the original language and dubs the speech in English, in a voice like the speaker's.

Does it translate the voice or only add subtitles?

It translates the voice: the speech is dubbed in the new language. Subtitles in that language are optional on top.

How much does it cost to translate a video?

510 credits per started minute, plus 15 per minute for subtitles. A 10-minute video costs 5,100 credits without subtitles.

Can I translate a YouTube video from a link?

No, links aren't accepted. Upload the video file, and only translate videos of yourself or ones you have permission to use.

Is there a cheaper way to translate a video?

Yes, if subtitles are enough. The AI Caption Generator translates subtitles into 13 languages for 15 credits per started minute plus 5 per job.

How long can the video be?

Up to 10 minutes, and up to 200 MB for video files. Split longer videos into parts.

Does it translate text that appears in the video?

No. Only the speech is translated. Titles, slides and signs in the picture stay as they are.

Can it translate a video with two speakers?

Yes, it works best when they take turns. People talking over each other are harder to separate and translate.

Do I need an account?

Yes. Sign in with Google or email; each job costs credits from your balance, and the result is saved in My Videos.

What if a job fails?

If a job can't finish, the credits it used go back to your balance automatically.
